About Morse Code Translator
Type text and get International Morse code as you type, or paste dots and dashes to read them back as letters; the direction is detected for you.
Every result can be played as sound with a flashing light, at a speed from 5 to 40 words per minute and a tone you choose.
Download the message as a WAV sound file to send, practise with or use in a video.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I separate letters and words in Morse?
Put a space between letters and a slash between words, for example ... --- ... / .... ..; three or more spaces also work as a word break.
What does words per minute mean in Morse?
It is measured on the word PARIS, which is exactly 50 dot lengths long. At 20 words per minute one dot lasts 60 milliseconds.
What is Farnsworth spacing?
Letters are sent at full speed but the gaps between them are stretched, so you learn each letter’s sound rather than counting dots and dashes.
Which characters are supported?
Letters A to Z, digits, the common punctuation marks and accented Latin letters. Characters without a Morse code are listed so nothing is dropped silently.
Can I paste Morse with other dot and dash characters?
Yes. Middle dots, bullets, en dashes, minus signs and underscores are read as dots and dashes.
What is SOS in Morse code?
... --- ... : three dots, three dashes, three dots, sent without letter gaps as a single distress signal.
Pro Tips
- Learn by sound, not by sight: set Farnsworth to 10 and the speed to 20 or more.
- Use a lower tone for long practice: around 500 to 600 Hz is easier on the ears.
- Check call signs digit by digit: numbers are five symbols long and easy to miscount.
- Swap to verify: use the result as input to make sure it reads back the same.
- Need binary instead: the text to binary converter turns text into 0s and 1s.
